Engr. Segun Olarinoye (CEng, MNSE, MCIBSE )

Chairman

Engr Segun Olarinoye is a highly experienced chartered electrical engineer with over 20 years of demonstrated history in the construction and critical infrastructure industries.

He has worked on notable projects both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria developing technical, innovative, and cost-effective electrical solutions for buildings and critical infrastructure for data centres such as The Event Centre Aberdeen (TECA), Maxim business park Eurocentral, Sports centers in Aberdeenshire to mention a few.

Between 2007 – 2011, as the Data Centre Manager for Guaranty Trust Bank, Nigeria, he led a team to ensure the 24/7 operations of the main data centre and disaster recovery site.

Engr Segun Olarinoye is a Member of The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Member, Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers UK and he is the 3rd Chairman of The Nigeria Society of Engineers, Glasgow branch where he leads a team of Nigerian Engineers to promote a high standard of Engineering study and practice.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and a Masters degree (MBA) in Business Administration from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.

He is the Director and Lead Engineer of Lawrences Global Services Ltd, an Engineering Consultancy he founded, and went into full operations in 2023.

Simon Achi Omerigwe is a COREN registered professional engineer with extensive experience cutting across various fields of specialties including oil & gas, academics, finance, engineering construction, etc…. As an engineering lecturer, he demonstrates an energetic, ambitious, and open-minded approach to proffering engineering solutions, and has developed a great quest for excellence in project delivery and execution. Simon possesses an excellent ability to motivate others, communicate effectively and exceptionally at all levels. He holds a BEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria, and a MSc in Biomedical Engineering with Cell and Tissue Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. Currently he is a Doctoral Researcher at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS), Glasgow, UK. He is a scholar with notable honours and awards (Best Poster Presentation Award- BioMedEng24, Most Inspiring Academic Staff Award- Stanmore College 2024, Global Research Scholarship Award- University of Strathclyde 2023, Engineering Scholarship Award- University of Strathclyde 2021).

Diret holds a B.Eng. and M.Eng. Degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. He obtained an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK where he also completed a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. Diret won the 2023 Global Universitas 21 Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) People’s Choice Award. His expertise includes microwave processing of materials, soil remediation, biomass processing, waste recycling and valorisation, and process optimisation. He is a registered engineer with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

Engr. Sylvanus Lilonfe (MNSE)



General Secretary II

Sylvanus is a Research Engineer at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Resilient Decarbonised Fuel Energy Systems, University of Nottingham, UK. He specialises in techno-economic and life cycle assessments of low-carbon technologies, including direct air capture and synthetic fuels. His publications in these areas of research have been indexed in high-impact journals. Sylvanus, who is also doing doctorate research at the University of Nottingham, holds a BEng in Chemical Engineering degree from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University and a master’s degree in the same field from University College London. Additionally, he was previously a Process Engineer with ExxonMobil Nigeria between 2017 to 2019.

Engr. Emeka Okpalannajiaku obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering at Nnamdi Azikiwe university, Anambra state and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Edinburgh Napier university, Edinburgh. He is a COREN registered and an experienced electrical engineer with over ten (10)years of hands-on expertise. He has successfully designed, managed, and implemented diverse electrical projects for both residential and commercial sectors, ensuring optimal power delivery and energy efficiency.

Emeka has extensive knowledge and experience in low-voltage power distribution, where he ensured the safe and efficient distribution of electricity for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. His deep understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance allows him to deliver high-quality, secure, and cost-effective solutions. As a passionate advocate for renewable energy, he has also honed his expertise in solar energy systems, where he specializes in the design, installation, and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) systems. His experience in solar system includes energy audits, site assessments, system sizing, and grid-tied/ off-grid solar solutions.

Engr. Dr. Kenechi Omeke(MNSE)



Technical Secretary I

Dr Kenechi Omeke is a Senior Data Scientist at the Office for National Statistics, where he leads the technical development of a UN-hosted platform for climate-health statistics. He holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Glasgow, an MSc in Communications Engineering (Distinction) from the University of Manchester, and a BEng in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a COREN-registered engineer and a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

 

His research spans artificial intelligence, IoT systems, and sustainable technology, with highly-cited publications in IEEE journals. As co-founder of Glen.AI, he develops AI solutions for businesses, while his affiliate research role at the University of Glasgow focuses on AI and edge computing for resource-constrained devices. His technical expertise includes machine learning, natural language processing (developing large language models-based applications), reinforcement learning, IoT systems integration, and the development of open-source tools for climate impact assessment.

 

Dr Omeke is passionate about STEM education and capacity building, particularly in Africa. Through the Computer Science Academy Africa (CSA Africa), where he serves as a core team member as well as IoT and Data Science Lead, he has designed and delivered courses in IoT and Data Science using Python, impacting over hundreds of students across the continent. His contributions include creating practical curricula that help educators, researchers, and students develop programming skills essential for research and industry roles.

 

He regularly speaks at Nigerian universities and runs intensive data analytics bootcamps to help aspiring data professionals transition into industry roles. His mentorship extends to both the public and private sectors, where he guides data scientists across government departments and supports underrepresented groups in tech. Through these initiatives, he has helped many individuals secure competitive roles in data science and analytics.

As a strong advocate for inclusive tech education, Dr Omeke volunteers his expertise to create accessible pathways into technology careers, particularly focusing on bridging the gap between academic training and industry requirements. His approach combines technical training with practical career guidance, ensuring participants develop both the skills and professional networks needed for success.

Samuel Offiah



Publicity Secretary

Samuel Offiah is a Software Engineer and Data Science professional with over a decade of experience delivering secure, scalable technology solutions across the healthcare, fintech, and enterprise sectors. He holds a Distinction MSc in Applied Data Science in Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nigeria.
Samuel is deeply passionate about mentorship, knowledge sharing, and community development, and actively supports early-career engineers and technology enthusiasts. He brings strong enthusiasm for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, having spoken at professional meetups on AI/ML and its practical applications in modern software systems, automation, and decision-making.
Professionally, Samuel has extensive experience working with .NET, C#, JavaScript, Azure, SQL, microservices, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures. He has contributed to mission-critical platforms within the UK healthcare system and financial institutions across the UK and Africa. He is currently a Software Developer at NHS Informatics Merseyside, where he works on digital healthcare platforms, intelligent search solutions, and automated testing frameworks that support GP and clinical services.
As an executive member of NSE Glasgow Branch, Samuel is committed to advancing professional excellence, supporting continuous learning, and promoting the relevance of Nigerian engineers within the UK engineering and technology ecosystem.

Engr. Paul Ager (MNSE)



Technical Secretary II

Paul (candidate) earned his Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Science degree in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nigeria. He is currently finalizing his doctoral research in Control Systems at Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow, UK. Paul is a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Wale obtained his Bachelor of Science (hons) degree in Civil Engineering from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, and a master’s degree in project management from the University of West of Scotland, Paisley and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Wale has over 15 years post-graduate experience gained on a diverse range of design and build projects that include Industrial projects M&E, civil construction (Offshore windfarm cable installation), Gas pipeline; oil and gas, water M&E; utility; and EPC and brownfield projects, and construction project management which includes tenders and project control. His experience is supported with good knowledge of site construction process and management, health, safety, and environmental management

Sandra Ezra Sobok



Treasurer I

Sandra is a COREN registered professional engineer with experience in the telecom, electricity transmission and software industries. She is ambitious, relentless and a pace-setter in all ramifications and is passionate about raising the next generation of female professionals in the STEM fields.

Sandra holds a BEng degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Nigeria; Master of Renewable and Sustainable Energy from Murdoch University Perth, Western Australia; and MSc Electrical Power Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University Glasgow, Scotland.

Chris is a COREN registered engineer with over ten years of career experience. He obtained a B.Eng., M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees (Electronic Engineering-Telecommunications) from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, in 2011, 2015, and 2021 respectively. He was an Erasmus Mobility Student (DREAM Project ACP-18) at the Universita degli Studi di Cagliari, Italy, from 2015 to 2016. He was awarded the 2018 PTDF Overseas Scholarship and obtained a second PhD from Heriot-Watt University, UK in 2022. His interests include UAV, UTM, ATM, NGN, network security, resource management, digital twinning, virtualisation, and modelling. He had consulted for EarSwitch Ltd., DSTL and UKRI-funded projects. He is currently a senior R&D engineer at PNDC, University of Strathclyde, investigating the designs of virtualising smart grid power solutions.

Engr. Sani Mohammed Lawal is an Electrical Engineer, Academician and Consultants in Electrical Designs Services, Training, Installations, and Solar Photovoltaic Installation Systems with overs 15 years of Experience in Electrical Power Engineering, COREN Registered, Member, IEEE, MNSE, MNIEEE, MCREN, and MSESN. Engr. S.M. Lawal is qualified Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) and qualified Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM) in Electrical Installation System for National Skills Qualification Framework. He has carry out different Electrical Projects in designs, installation and accreditations of various Polytechnic Programs. Holds Higher National Diploma with PDG from Kaduna Polytechnic and proceeded to Malaysia for Masters in Electrical Power Engineering from University Putra Malaysia (UPM). Engr. S. M. Lawal is a Lecturer in the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Department, College of Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic. He is currently undergoing his PhD program at Robert Gordon University (RGU), Aberdeen Scotland under the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarship. His research area is in Renewable Energy with emphasis in Low Cost Solar Photovoltaic Concentrator for building integration that will be used in Sub-Sahara Africa; As an Energy Panacea. COREN Examiner, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, Professional Interview. Former, two times Technical Secretary, Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE) Division of Nigerian Society of Engineers, Kaduna Chapter. Member, Governing Council, ASTEVEN Renewable Energy Academy, Lagos Nigeria.

Ms. Oluwaseun Alonge is an accomplished engineer with a strong academic foundation, holding an MSc in Sustainable Energy from the University of Glasgow and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from the African University of Science and Technology. She has led multiple high-impact projects across the engineering and energy sectors, demonstrating expertise in project management, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement. Her career includes successful roles in both academia and industry, where she has driven significant improvements in project delivery, HSE, and team productivity. Oluwaseun’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and continuous professional development underscores her dedication to advancing the engineering field.

Bunmi obtained his Bachelor of Science (hons) degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, and a masters degree in Construction Project Management from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Bunmi has over 16 years post-graduate experience in the built environment, civil engineering design, assessment, and construction project management. He has gained valuable experience in civil/structural engineering design, inspection and assessment of railway under bridges, overbridges, footway bridges and other structures like station buildings, gantries and retaining walls. His experience is supported with good knowledge of buildability, site construction process and management, health, safety, and environmental management.

Dr Stephen Ugwuanyi is a Chartered and COREN registered engineer with decade of professional experience in electrical and electronic engineering covering Industrial IoT, Digital Grid Technologies, Cybersecurity, Wireless Communications, and Operational Technologies. His career spans academia, research, and industry across the UK and Nigeria, and he has established a strong track record in delivery high-value government and industry funded projects.

Stephen is a TETFUND and PTDF Scholar and holds a BEng in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; an MSc in Communication, Control, and Digital Signal Processing; and a PhD in Internet of Things for Industrial Devices from the University of Strathclyde. He also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Federal College of Education (Technical), Rivers State, Nigeria.

As the Immediate Past Chairman of the Branch, Stephen’s leadership and experience continue to positively shape the growth and development of NSE in the UK. He is a committed STEM Ambassador and has been recognised for his dedication to mentoring and supporting the professional development of young engineers. He is also open to contributing at Board Level within State or Federal Institutions, including serving in the capacity of a Visiting Professor.

Stephen currently serves as the Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity and Digital Projects/Enhancement Lead within a UK Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) organisation.
